Oklahoma State took advantage of home support, as the hosts beat the present number two, Missouri last Wednesday night. In Oklahoma’s win of 79-72, Le’Bryan Nash, the fresh man had a field day, scoring 27 points, which went to become his career high. Nash’s 17-4 burst gave the Oklahoma cowboys a massive lead to which the Tigers had no response, with just 4 minutes left on the clock. Another player who bested his own performance Wednesday night was Brian Williams, coming home bagging 22 points of the court.
On another match, the Ohio State team went past Penn State to win a 78-54. The Ohio State team went back with Jared Sullinger fetching for his team 20 points and 13 rebounds. Mississippi State went one up against LSU. The team scored 76 against LSU’s 71 in Starkville, Mississippi. The team performed well with Arnett Moultrie scoring 28 points. The Mississippi bulldogs went past the LSU in the second half after a close first half that ended at them being at 32 against 31. In other college basketball news, Pittsburg won against Providence comfortably with 86 against their 74. The senior guard Ashton Gibbs scored 22 points for his team. It doesn’t seem to be going well for the Pittsburg, but with their first win after eight straight losses, things might be changing for the better. Michigan came out on top against Minnesota with 68 points, a clear 16 points above Minnesota. The team’s best performer was Draymond Green scoring 22 points for his side. It was a big day for Michigan coach, Tom Izzo who experienced his 400th career victory. Florida State pulled off a win against the Wake Forrest with the match ending with scores 75-52. The match was quite close in the first half which promised an equally close and gripping second half, but the Florida State pulled away and above Wake Forest quite quickly in the second half. Creighton clinched a win against Drake beating those 77-69. Creighton seems to be in great form as the team got home to a sixth straight win and their star Doug McDermott scored thirty points for his team.
In the State men’s basketball matches, Transylvania beat Franklin 73-65. The team got their points from Chris Owens and Brandon Rash, both of whom pitched in with 18 points. In the other match of the week, Union went ahead beating Bluefield with 93-79 points. Carlos Sanford peaked in form to give his team 27 points. In the State women’s basketball play the story was the same. Union’s again beat Bluefield, 70-55 this time. The team, coached by Tim Curry went home with his 200th win as the Lady’s head coach. On other news, Franklin side beat Transy 67-59. Sarah Condra played exceptionally to give her side 26 points. Thomas More made an easy win against the Grove City with 66 against their 52 points. It was a special day for Moriah Corey (sophomore year) who got herself the first double digit scores, 11 points.
