This comes in as a surprise for all, with the freshman being benched for the second time. We are talking about Ryan Boatright, who allegedly failed to meet with the eligibility requirements. The freshman was again benched from playing this season, as the NCAA has raised questions and are pursuing investigations against Ryan’s eligibility. Ryan missed out on the Notre Dame Game on Saturday, when he was declared benched until further notifications, late on Friday night. NCAA also confirmed that during the ongoing investigations, the player is bound to remain inactive, until the review is complete.
The Six foot aurora point guard is having a tough time since his inception. The player has missed out already, on the first six games of the season due to similar issues. The player ran into a minor problem, when the school found out that he had got for himself plane tickets last season, while he had been playing in the AUU basketball. This action of his revoked his playing privileges on the court. The school confirmed that the issue this time predates to when Ryan Boatright was not associated with it. The school stated that the ‘latest development’ was during a time when Ryan’s had no relationship with the university.
Though the NCAA made it clear he needs to sit out of the games as the proceedings unfold, but it did mention he could be on the bench during the matches and may as well practice with the team. The school authorities remained tight lipped regarding the issue. Their spokesperson, Phil Chardis stated that the school would not make any comments on the issue, until and unless the issue has been resolved and the review board has reached its verdict.
Ryan has been a force to reckon with for the team. Probably that is going to play on the mind of the review board in deciding on the repercussions of his actions, most of which hasn’t been disclosed. The player has been involve in three assists with UConn and has got his average up to 10 points per game, in the three games that he has played. His partnership with UConn has sealed games for his side and it has also helped his fellowmate to speed up his offense. The trio of Boatright, Shabazz Napier and Jeremy Lamb working together, the side does seem formidable. The benched freshman said this Thursday that he had been quite excited about making the game (which he is now going to miss) that is to be staged at his hometown.
Connecticut is in a bit of a soup with Ryan missing the action, (and having only played three out of the twelve) and moreover because their star forward Tyler Olander wouldn’t be playing for the next game. Olander would be missing the game due to a bruised right heel that he picked up at the game on Monday in Huskies, West Virginia. The team seems to be in sorts of trouble with their coach Jim Calhoun just coming out from just serving a three match suspension due to inappropriate behavior. But one thing’s for certain, there’s sure going to be changes in betting on the Bovada betting arena.
