Five Basketball Players on Whom America Pins Hopes For the Olympics Gold

The United States of America has mostly dominated the basketball tournaments in the Olympics. It has successfully acquired 13 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 2 bronze medals out of the total 16 basketball tournaments in the Olympics. American basketball teams have witnessed various remarkable wins in the past. However, one cannot simply bask on the past laurels. Every basketball team needs to excel in the Olympic tournaments and make its country proud by adding one more gold medal in its kitty. The American basketball team for the 2012 Olympics needs to gear up as other countries have started performing reasonably well posing a tough competition for the Americans.

With the recent announcement of the American basketball team for the 2012 London Olympics, expectations are rising day by day. The chairman of the American basketball Mr. Jerry Colangelo is determined to take up all possible steps required to make it a winning team. The 18 member roster for 2012 Olympics comprises of players like LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Deron Williams, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Dwight Howard, Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Chauncey Billups, Tyson Chandler, Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant, Rudy Gay, Eric Gordon, Lamar Odom, Andre Iguodala, Kevin Love. Dwight Howard and LaMarcus Aldridge had to back off due to injury. Two other players who had to quit the team due to injuries are Chauncey Billups and Derrick Rose. James Harden and Anthony Davis are the two new entrants to the national basketball team. Although these two players lack in experience, they are packed with youthful energy and immense talent. There are some trusted and promising players on whom the whole country can rest their expectations.

Chris Paul

Chris Paul is undoubtedly one of the most proficient point guard player. He was a member of the winning basketball team of 2008 Olympics. He has gained immense experience with the NBA. It is this experience and prior participation in the Olympics that makes him one of the major players of the team.

Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant, with impressive performance statistics. is probably one of the few players who can match up to the legendary basketball player Michael Jordan. Bryant, who is a shooting guard is one of the most capable players for the small forward position. He was also awarded the NBA most valuable player in 2009 and 2010 and was also a part of 2008 Olympics. He is an expert three-point shooter. LeBron James

LeBron James has an impressive carrier that includes participation in 2004 Olympics and 2008 Olympics. He has been awarded the NBA Rookie of the year in 2004 and has won the NBA most valuable player of the year twice, once in 2009 and the second one in 2010. He has been one of the leading players at the small forward position. James is the only NBA player who has scored an average score of 26 points along with 6 assists and 6 rebounds.

Kevin Love

Kevin Love is another player who seems to be completely focused. He has continuously been working on his scores and rebounds and this has aided him to win the title of NBA most improved player award in 2010-2011. He was also the member of the FIBA World Championship team that won the gold in 2010. This power forward position player seems to be quite promising.

Tyson Chandler

Tyson Chandler at the center position is definitely one of the most important players of the 2012 Olympics team. Due to his extraordinary skills, has the NBA most defensive player title of 2012 to his credit. He was also a part of the basketball team that won the FIBA World Championship in2010.
