Kansas team Jayhawks won against Texas A&M late into Monday night. The team came in ahead over scoring 64 against Texas’ 54. But the team doesn’t get any respite despite a win. The coach Bill Self didn’t seem too pleased with the performance on the field, he further added that the team didn’t play well the entire first half but made up for the lack in gameplay in the second half, but overall he still seemed quite displeased. Even their senior guard Tyshawn Taylor approved of the coach’s verdict describing them ‘ugly’ on the court. But if you see the records, the results were all too familiar with Kansas beating Texas in 18 out of the last 19 outings, suffering the only loss back in 2007. Kansas is really going great guns with ten straight wins.
Though the opponent side’s coach fails to agree commenting on the Kansas gameplay as “very aggressive and good defensibly”. The physical prowess that the Kansas team exhumed seemed too much for Coach Billy Kennedy’s team.
Thomas Robinson came into form scoring 16 points of his total of 18 in the second half. Another person who played well in the second half was Tyshawn Taylor who scored 17 points for his side. But the star of the game was Elston Turner, who hit an all time high with 24 points into his tally. The team seems to be in great form, with another player hitting double digits, David Loubeau with 15 points. The team is now chugging ahead with wins even without their Khris Middleton, who missed out on the game from a right knee injury. The team may miss out Dash Harris for the next game for he looked quite uncomfortable in the middle, hobbling through the entire game. Robinson is storming into the charts, already a contender for the national player of the year award, scoring all ten times from fouls in the second half. All these fouls were committed by Texas defenders in an effort to cramp Robinson for space. Later Robinson was quoted saying that he is quite proud with the way the team played and seemed happy over the fact that the team executed the plans from the locker room. He added that their free shooting came off well in this game and played a big hand in last Monday’s wins. Kansas is being speculated to be the team to win the tournament this year round.
It seemed to be a tight game till Robinson came in to convert a three pointer giving his side quite an edge over their Texas opponents to put them to a 47-42 lead. The Texas team tried to pull it back and did come back closing the gap to 47-42. But the Kansas team sealed the win with Elijiah Johnson’s making it 51-42 putting the game out of reach for their opponents.
On the other hand, Texas is facing the music. They have lost out in seven games out of their last ten games, making them alarmingly close at being out of the NCAA tournament.
