Spurs Win Game 1 Of The 2013 NBA Finals

San Antonio Spurs @ Miami Heat 92-88

Despite being the underdogs for the first game of the NBA finals in Miami, the San Antonio Spurs rallied on Thursday night to take the win and get one step closer to winning the championship. The magic formula to take down the Miami Heat seems to be a combination of good defense and maybe a bit of luck in the offense.

When it comes to close games, having some luck can be all it takes to win. While this is mostly available for those that play live dealer casino games, it is also something that can apply to the NBA finals.

Spurs Win Game 1 Of The NBA Finals

Tim Duncan simply dominated towards the end after having a pretty bad start and finished the game with 20 points and 14 rebounds. The pressure was really feeling with just a few seconds left on the clock as Tony Parker got in a nice jumper to make sure that Spurs take the game 92-88. He finished with 21 points.

The referees had to review the shot Parker made in order to make sure that it was within game time and it gave the Spurs a four-point lead to finish a very close game.

LeBron James had another triple-double for the Heat but it was not enough to win the game. This is the first time the Spurs face James in an NBA final since they defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2007. While a lot of things have changed since then, and James has improved significantly, history does seem to repeat itself judging by this first game. However, the LeBron James promise he made when he joined the Miami Heat in 2010 can still be valid for this year despite the bad start.

Overall, the Spurs didn’t show much during the first three quarters as they were just trying to respond to the Heat and keep the game close. However, the fourth quarter brought forward a totally different play style which dominated the defending champions.

The San Antonio Big Three certainly brought their best game and are now up to 99 postseason victories. Manu Ginobili scored 13 points and another 12 were added by Danny Green. The good defense from the Spurs also made James not get a lot of shots in, finishing the game with 7 out of 16 and things only became worse for Miami’s offense in the last quarter.

On other side, the Miami Heat Big Three also did pretty well as Dwayne Wade got 17 points and Chris Bosh scored 13. They were both shut down in the fourth quarter and Bosh only got two points in during that period.

Game 2

Game 2 will now be played on Sunday night. Despite their performance in Game 1 in Miami and the fact that the defense only kept getting better for the Spurs as the minutes passed, they will still be underdogs going into Game 2. Online sportsbooks give them a +6 point spread while the Over/Under bets will be at 188 for this Sunday. With that being said, it will probably be another close game if the Spurs manage to keep James under control and quickly come up with a response for everything the Heat does. Miami will still have the home court advantage and James is very familiar with it as this is where he became a champion after defeating Oklahoma City in Game 5 last year. Things will change for the next three games and it will get harder for Miami. Overall, Miami Heat now has a 2.00 moneyline to win the championship while the San Antonio Spurs are favored at 1.83.
