Mike Brown fired from the Lakers after disappointing start
As the season began, the Lakers were expecting to reach the championship with a nice score but things didn’t go so well for the Los Angeles players. The team lost all their eight games during the preseason which is the first time in the history of the franchise and continued their losing streak into the regular season. The Lakers lost their first three games against Dallas, Portland and the Cippers and showed a very weak performance throughout the games.
They finally managed to claim a win against Detroit but lost again on Wednesday against Utah. Something needed to change and it seems that the club made the decision to change the coach, firing Mike Brown after just 18 months. This is the worst record the Lakers have ever had in the Western Conference and it seems that heads are starting to roll. In his defense, the team recently added some new players and it takes time to get everybody used to a new offense; unfortunately, time wasn’t on his side.

The recent changes can offer the Warriors a fighting chance in Los Angeles and it is definitely something to consider as the Lakes lack a clear coach right now and the new strategy wasn’t completely implemented by before he was asked to leave.
The players declared that they support Brown and that it is normal for new things to take some time in order to get everybody on the same page. Bryant wasn’t present at a big part of the training camp due to injuries and so was Nash who suffered a small fracture and hasn’t played since the second game. The decision to fire the coach was made on Friday morning and although it came as a shock for some of the players, the results are unacceptable for such a top tier team.
Lakers new offensive strategy
This fall, Brown introduced a new offensive strategy to the team which didn’t really work out and they seemed to struggle with their team coordination during the games; there were also some sloppy plays in the defense where Brown usually excels.
Despite not providing the results fast enough for the Lakers, Brown is considered a great couch. He took the Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA finals in 2007, the first in their franchise history making him the most successful coach with the best regular season record. It just seems that things didn’t work out and maybe his ambitions were a bit too high and didn’t have enough time to reach them.
